Our Philosophy

Montessori is a hands-on, interactive approach to learning. Through special materials and guidance from the directress, the child’s spirit, creativity and imagination are awakened. In the prepared environment, the child learns to become independent, and develops an intrinsic motivation to learn. While exploring the environment and being able to choose his own activities, the child develops a love of learning. Our carefully designed learning environments encourage hands-on exploration and self-discovery. Through these experiences, children develop not only academic skills but also essential life skills such as self-motivation, responsibility, respect for others, and kindness.

Our Facility

Step into Creative World and discover a world of wonder and imagination. Our spacious classrooms are filled with vibrant colors and an abundance of engaging materials, creating an environment that sparks curiosity and fosters learning. For those chilly winter days, we have two indoor gyms, one for our active toddlers and another for our energetic preschoolers. In addition, we have two outdoor playground areas, each tailored to suit the needs of our youngest learners.

Our Teachers

At Creative World, we believe that an exceptional education begins with exceptional teachers. That's why our dedicated educators are Montessori certified for children ages 0-3 and 3-6. The Montessori training includes a 480-hour internship in the classroom, in addition to seven Montessori albums in each subject: Language, Math, Science, Geography, Sensorial, Practical Life, and Creative Arts. Together, our warm, nurturing, and professional staff always prioritize the needs of each child.

About Creative World Montessori

Our Story

Creative World Montessori School was established in 1972 within the premises of a small church in LaGrange, Illinois. After several years, the school relocated to its present location, the Goodman School building in LaGrange.

In 1979, the school entered a new phase under the leadership of Midge Gallas and Gudrun Olson, who assumed administrative and teaching roles. They initially held two half-day classes. The current site is a former elementary school building with multiple classrooms, providing ample space for growth.

Starting with just 20 enrolled children, Creative World Montessori School has witnessed significant expansion over the years. Today, it offers nine distinct classes ranging from Toddler through Kindergarten, with a diverse student body approaching 125. The dedicated staff has also grown, evolving from four employees in 1979 to a team of 26 teachers and assistants today.

Licensing and Affiliations

Creative World is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization dedicated to providing quality education. As full members of the American Montessori Society, we uphold the highest standards in early childhood education. The Illinois State Board of Education oversees our operation, and we are licensed by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS).

Administration

Director - Heidi DelliBovi

Heidi DelliBovi brings a wealth of knowledge to Creative World, holding a B.A. in Psychology, a minor in Early Childhood Education, Montessori trained for children ages 3-6, and experience working with children with special needs. She has been a part of the Creative World community for 27 years, both teaching and directing. Overseeing the entire operation of Creative World, she ensures that the classes are running smoothly and the children are thriving.

Former Director and Consultant - Gudrun Olson

Gudrun Olson took over the administration of Creative World in 1979 with expertise and dedication. Holding a Montessori Certification for children ages 3-6, and a B.A. in Education (K-12), she has a passion for teaching children. After 42 years of directing and teaching in the classroom, Gudrun has taken a step back to allow her daughter, Heidi DelliBovi, to direct operations.
